SSAT

SSAT stands for Secondary School Admissions Test. This is a test every student who wants to attend a private school has to take. In March, I had my SSAT test for my school application. My family and I were really anxious because we didn’t know if there would be the examination or if they would cancel it (because of Covid-19).

I was really scared because I had less time preparing for the test than other people. While other people have 1 year to prepare, I only had 1.5-2 months. Looking back, I think it’s CRAZY that I only started to prepare for the SSAT in a few months and got a good score!!! I took SSAT lessons for Math, Reading, Verbal (Synonyms and Analogies) and a Writing sample. At first, I though it was one of those scary tests with a stressful environment. But when I cam there, I completely changed my mind.

My test was taken in a library of a school that is practically a castle. The library looked super comfortable! As a book lover, I felt like the library was the perfect place for a test/exam. Every has 2 people sitting opposite each other. So basically, people could kinda copy off each other. The person I was suppose to sit next to didn’t show up, so I got the entire table to myself! Anti-copy ✔️ :)) The chairs were super comfy as well! They were office chairs so, in case you didn’t know what to do, you could spin around and around and around :)).

I was pretty surprised to the fact that I wasn’t stressed out because of the test. I remember feeling pretty chilled out for some reason. It was more like some random pop quiz you didn’t need to study for (If you are doing the SSAT, please study. It is hard) than a test. I think the reason why I think it wasn’t stressful was because: 1. It was in a library. My favorite place on earth 2. I (THINK) studied enough for the test so I was smart :))

My Verbal score barely close to average score of a 6th grader (it’s an exaggeration, don’t take it seriously) . My Math score is slight higher than average and my Reading score was slightly off average. But all of them added together is a pretty good score! But looking back, I think that if I had started to study for the test earlier, I would’ve got a better score. Oh well! It’s a really good score with a 1.5-2 months studying.
