M.B.I.S / Mountbrooke International School

If you have read the post about Mountbrooke, you would have heard of a school named: M.B.I.S., Mountbrooke International School. Z, S and I have all attend this elite school for 3 years now!

For all the people who want to move to this school, this will be your ultimate guide to the best ways to earn your grade! A note: you may not get all of these teachers. Some classes have multiple teachers teaching different levels. These are only my experiences with specific teachers!

Subjects and Teachers:

  • Math & Mountvest Improvement

Math is taught by Mr. Zen, who like is name, is rather Zen! He gives the least homework, doesn’t play favourites and is really funny! But of course, once in a while, he will give some pop quizzes and homework, but I swear it’s not that bad! Whenever you finish the work early, he lets you have free-time. Letting you chill in class or giving you the permission for letting you walk around campus to get a snack from the vending machine or just relax.

Pro Tip: Try to finish your work as quick as possible (with accuracy!) to have free-time and chill!

Mountvest Improvement (M.I.) is a class in which is specifically designed for students who are making ideas to propose the the Government. This class is not volunteer, but a class where students have to be selected for. Once in a while, Mr. Zen will give out a problem, and we students will (in groups or by yourself) make an idea to fix it. All of these ideas will be presented to the school with an exhibition and votes. The Top 3 ideas get to be proposed to the Government. Sometimes, when there isn’t a problem, students get to make an idea about anything. Schools, public transport, laws, anything that can be upgraded. Mr. Zen actually doesn’t do much in class, just a supervisor because all students will be too busy to be messing around.

To get in this class, you have to be good in most of your studies, because the class is meeting 2 times a week, each time for 2 blocks. Meaning, you will have to cancel out some of your classes (last year I had to cancel out Drama, which I love!). You also have to submit a paper in which explains why the school should have you on their M.I. team. I think the longest paper submitted was 8 pages long! Crazy!

  • History

Despite the fact that Mr. Zen and Mr. Zed have a name that sounds similar, they are no where near similar. In fact, I think the 2 teachers dislike each other! I would say that out of all subject, History has the worst teacher. Mr. Zed. He is really strict, and gives the most homework (most students stay up all night to do it!) with the most impossible deadlines! At least 5 pop quizzes a week- or some may say daily pop quizzes. Try to not be funny, or cause any “big” events in class, because you never know if you’ll end up in detention. I’m warning you class clowns.

Pro Tip: Stick to the rules as much as possible in this class. Even the rules at the end of the rulebook still are closely viewed at by Mr. Zed.

  • English & Social Studies

English & Social Studies is taught Ms. Cheryl, who is rather sweet and easy going. Her studies aren’t considered hard, but you’ll still receive homework and assignments. In case you can’t finish on time, or don’t think so, you could always email her for an extension! 1 week max. She usually tells her students to tell her at least 2 days before the deadline, but there was a time where I sent an email to her the night before and it still works! She does have favourites, but their not that obvious. The way to can become one (to get extra credit!) is to get her coffee (with 2 tsp of white sugar and 1/2 cup of milk) in the morning. There are some days, where her morning coffee hasn’t arrived yet, so she cancels class (but incase you already bought her some, she’ll be in her office).

Pro Tip: Gift her coffee and white chocolate to win her favor!

  • Science

Science is really fun. A bunch of interesting projects (eg. what type of bubble tea is most liked?) will be conducted many times in a school term. Ms. May, who teaches, has a really fun personality and cracks a lot of jokes in class. There still is homework (can’t escape from that) but I assure you it’s all worth the fun in class.

Believe it or not, Ms. May doesn’t have any favourites. She definitely has least favourties though. She likes to call on the students who sit in the middle, suspects the students in the back and interacts with the students in the front the most. So if your an introvert, don’t sit in the front. If you want to be left alone, don’t sit in the middle. And if you want to be on good terms with the teacher, I don’t recommend sitting at the back. You should plan out where you want to sit before the first day, because everyone races to the seats to claim a spot. If you come late, your guaranteed a spot at the very back. I mean it.

Pro Tip: Plan out where you want sit and come around 15 minutes early to guarantee your spot.

Since I realised how long this post was, I am going to be writing a part 2 to finish all the subjects. I hope you learnt something new about MBIS!
